2015 was quite a year, so let’s have a little recap.
January and February were pretty much filled with job hunting. And in March I finally got a job in Barcelona. Unfortunately it wasn´t really what I wanted and working this job 40 hours a week + travelling more than 3 hours per day exhausted me. I met some lovely people there, but I was very happy when I walked out of the office for the last time in July. After that I decided to enjoy the summer a bit, but when August came around the corner I had no clue what to do with my life. So I started to look for Master´s degree programs. I looked for them before, but they were either too expensive or completely in Spanish, no thanks! Then finally I found a degree that seemed to fit my interests, pretty close to where I live and completely in English, great! So now I am in the middle of studying my Master´s degree in Tourism Management. Thesis stress slowly starts to grow and deadlines are always around the corner, but I will survive.
2015 was quite quiet travel-wise. This has to do with the fact that financially it was not the greatest year of our life and we didn´t feel like wasting money on travel. Even though, money spent on travelling is not really wasted, right?
In April we spent the Easter break in PortAventura in Salou. Probably not the most cultural trip, but I loved it so much, as you can read in the post I dedicated to this little escape. In July the boyfriend and I spent one week in The Netherlands to join a family bbq and spend time with my friends, which I absolutely enjoyed. In September we made a quick roadtrip through the North of Spain, during which I’ve seen many new and beautiful places!
For Christmas we went back home again to spend part of the holidays and my birthday at home. New year’s eve we celebrated in Spain though. A little detail: In Spain it’s tradition to eat 12 grapes with the 12 bells at midnight. It was my second year of doing this, but I failed again and was only able to have six of them.
Now, let’s talk about resolutions.
DEDICATE MORE TIME TO THIS BLOG
I absolutely love writing and sharing stories with you, but as you can see, we are around 20 days into the new year and I’ve finally finished the first post of the year. I think this has mainly to do with the fact that I am in the middle of a Master’s program and that the free time I have from studying I don’t want to spend on my laptop. I am going to my very best and write more regularly though.
GET MY MASTER’S DEGREE
I am halfway through the program of Tourism Management at the Universitat de Girona and I hope during this summer I will be able to wrap things up there, with completing my thesis and doing an internship. After that I hope I can find a job I will enjoy doing in a tourism related organization. And if I am lucky I hope to combine my love for tourism, travel and writing.
As the past year has been a bit more difficult for us, I hope that this year we can make more trips. First of all, I want to discover more of Spain, but besides that I would like to make some trips inside Europe as well. Thinking of places like Granada, Valencia, Galicia, returning to San Sebastián and visiting London and Paris again are high on the list too.
BECOME FLUENT IN SPANISH
I don’t think I need to explain more here. I just need to practice, practice and stop worrying about making a little mistaking or failing at pronouncing the Spanish ‘R’.
I think that this is about it for the next twelve months. Do you have any resolutions for yourself?
